Japan makes their way to home after being last at the group.

On a night of contrasting emotions in Cuiabá, Colombia marched into the second round as group winners with a third victory .Japan were dominating possession - as was the case in their previous two games - but offering little in the way of penetration.
Samurai blue arrived at the World Cup with hopes of reaching the quarter-finals - progress from the group stage was almost taken for granted - Japan have departed with only two goals and one point to show for their efforts. The fact that their elimination was confirmed.
Colombia will play Uruguay on Saturday, a Uruguay who could well be without Luis Suarez after this afternoon's unpleasantness.

Match review:

17 minute : GOAL! Japan 0 Colombia 1 (Cuadrado 17 pen) The impressive Juan Cuadrado makes no mistake, rifling the ball down the middle past the diving Kawashima's legs

45th minute:GOAL! Japan 1 Colombia 1 (Okazaki 45) Japan are back in it and after all that energy and effort they've scored a goal in slow machine. Honda skips inside a challenge on the right and clips a harmless enough looking ball into the box. Okazaki gets in front of his man and, with the last touch of the half, plants a header inside Ospina's near post.

54th minute:GOAL! Japan 1 Colombia 2 (Martinez 54) Colombia are back in front thanks to Martinez's deflected strike after he was expertly teed-up by the brilliant James Rodriguez. It's Rodriguez who picks up the ball at the edge of the area. He goes to shoot, drawing in the Japan defenders, but instead he flicks it wide to Martinez who shifts it out from under his feet and fires a shot which skips off Konno's legs giving it the bounce that sends it into the corner.

82nd mintue:GOAL! Japan 1 Colombia 3 (Martinez 82) Game over. Japan were always in trouble on the counter - Colombia have wasted a few but this time they're clinical. Honda loses it outside the Colombia area. Carbonero boots it forward, Rodriguez picks and threads a beautiful reverse pass to Martinez, who checks inside and curls a lovely finish past Kawashima.

89th minute:GOAL! Japan 1 Colombia 4 (Rodriguez 89) What a finish from Rodriguez. It's his third of the World Cup. Again it's on the counter attack. He turns Yoshida inside out and dinks the sweetest of finishes over Kawashima. Player of the tournament so far?
